The Good
  
    - Hardware RAID is transparent to OS.
- Nearly doubles disk throughput (RAID 0 only).
- Increased reliability (RAID 1 only).
- Less expensive than the SCSI alternative.
The Bad
  
    - Performs poorly on small reads and writes.
