Linux Mint 6

Mint is a rich desktop Linux with a growing circle of fans around the world. This easy-to-use system mixes an inspired collection of standard Linux apps with a set of innovative and original management tools. According to the Mint developers, the Universal edition included on this DVD contains no proprietary software, patented technologies, or support for restricted formats.

Mint 6 Felicia is based on Ubuntu 8.10 and comes with Linux kernel 2.6.27, Gnome 2.24, and Xorg 7.4.

Mint provides an online software portal where hundreds of applications are available for easy download. You'll find drivers, system utilities, educational tools, developer aids, and dozens of desktop applications. The Mint website also offers a helpful collection of resources, including a well-designed wiki.

Some of the original apps in Mint 6 include a homegrown software management tool, a handy upgrade manager, and the mintNanny parental control application. You will also find pre-installed tools such as the Gufw firewall configuration app and the Giver file transfer utility.

Linux Mint is part of a new generation of Linux distros with the focus on the user experience. Plug in this month's DVD and enjoy a taste of Mint.
