8.136 Sys::Hostname

Provides one function, hostname, which attempts to get the system hostname by doing checks appropriate to the operating system. Removes nulls, returns, and newlines from the result, which it then caches. croaks on failure.

use Sys::Hostname;
$host = hostname();
